A Big Light
Land Art installation11 mayo, 2015
Light signal, was designed for Trópico Music & Arts Festival in Acapulco. This festival took place 200 km away from Iguala, the town where, in September 2014, 43 students were disappeared by local police colluded with regional drug gangs. Since then, more than 19 mass graves have been found in the area without the case being clarified by the state. This installation worked as a poetic action space which invited local people to help dig a symbolic mass grave that remembered this tragic event. Out of this hole in the ground a big light emerged and lit the area. This big light symbolized both a international humanitarian SOS sign and a local symbol of hope.
